Being an elem is fun again
I really was getting so tired of straight up 'nuking' (the way every in PUGs wants, arcane echod MS). Now, we are so much more versatile. For Pyros, we finally don't need an energy management elite since the attunes got slightly buffed, and glyph of lesser energy got buffed. Searing Flames is what is currently in my bar...that spell is AWESOME, spam it a few times and everything is dead. I haven't captured Mind Blast yet, but that spell seems awesome as well. Hydros also got a huge buff, as vapor blade got a nice (But unnecessary!) buff, and shatterstone is awesome now. I haven't gotten far enough to buy freezing gust yet, but that seems like a very nice combo with shatterstone.
Any comments?

sandstorm does a ton of damage IF the monsters are dumb enough to stay in the area.
searing flames is a while north of the cemetary i think, right near the gates town

Oh I believe they are
I've been running a water build with Feast of Corruption...With it I use Maelstrom. The enemies just don't care. I have seen very few who can actually be bothered to get off the fat lazy behinds and move out of the way...it's great! I found Maelstrom to work a treat on that Elementalist boss who has sandstorm, The Drought, at the end of the Rilhon Refuge mission (I think)...If you cast Maelstrom on him he:
a) doesn't move out of it because he's too darn lazy and "all powerful"...
b) it interrupts all his skills.
So it seems with the elementalist buff we also get the chance to use AoE skills effectively? w00t. Being an Elementalist never used to not be fun in my opinion...but it's more fun now!!

Agreed 100% with OP. Sure enemies don't sit in AoE damage like they used to, but you can still pull off a lot of damage before they move. Toss in a snare to increase effectiveness. Since every AoE damage causes fleeing, Eles can't be picked on anymore. Also Water and Earth eles now have a strong place in PvE imo.

I can't find a reason to use any AoE other than searing flames. But that's reason enough.

agreed with symbol. I am wondering to try out Mind blast though.
No more E-Management elites unless needed badly!

Mind blast is nice too. I've seen guilds running the E/Mo mind blaster I proposed in the forums:
1) Mind blast
2) Immolate
3) Liquid Flame
4) Glowing gaze
5) Aegis
6) Extinguish
7) <free>
8) <free>
High single target dps, reliable energy management, good utility.

I doubt it. It's mainly a PvE skill, ANet tends to do more PvP balancing. If this doesn't affect PvP that much, I doubt it will get nerfed.

It IS doing a lot for pvp. A lot of people are running Searing flames builds.

In what universe do you live in where searing flames is "mainly a PvE skill"?

I think it'll get nerfed too...pyromancing is almost becoming too mindless, although it is a lot more satisfying being able to kill stuff

I was amazed that no exhaustion spells were added (except a bit on invoke lightning). If they leave the ele spells as they are i swear i'll never EVER complain with anet again... at least for 1 week

I consider Hero vs. Hero, ala Heroes Ascent, to be PvE. Even moreso now that it really is more heavily populated by AI than humans.
Searing Flames isn't totally unviable in PvP, but it's a niche character to be sure.
Peace,
-CxE
